High School Quarterback Dies Following Severe Head Injury

(PatriotNews.net) – A high school football player in Alabama tragically passed away on Saturday after suffering a severe brain injury during his team’s game on Friday night.

Caden Tellier, a junior quarterback for Morgan Academy, was injured in the third quarter of his team’s 30-22 victory over Southern Academy in Selma, Alabama. After the injury, Tellier was quickly airlifted to the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital for emergency treatment.

Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the medical team, Tellier passed away from his injuries on Saturday evening, as confirmed by Morgan Academy’s headmaster, Bryan Oliver.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that Caden Tellier has gone to be with his Lord and Savior. Caden loved the Lord with all his heart and was a shining light every day he graced the halls of Morgan Academy. He was a student, a friend, an athlete, and most importantly, a follower of Christ,” said Oliver.

Oliver expressed the deep sorrow felt by the entire school community, saying, “There are no words to describe how we feel as a school community and family. We will come together and support Jamie, Arsella, and Lyla with our whole hearts. We offer our deepest sympathy to the Telliers’ extended family as well. Caden will never be forgotten for who he was and what he means to Morgan Academy.”

On Saturday morning, confusion arose on social media regarding Tellier’s condition. The Alabama Independent School Association’s Executive Director, Michael McLendon, initially posted a statement on Facebook indicating the school had suffered a “tragic loss.” However, that post was later deleted and replaced with a statement clarifying that Tellier had suffered a “tragic injury” and was in critical condition at the time. Sadly, later that day, Tellier’s passing was confirmed.

In response to this tragedy, McLendon announced that Morgan Academy would suspend all school activities in the coming week. He also noted that as a small school, Morgan Academy feels this loss deeply, and the Alabama Independent School Association would offer any support needed during this difficult time.

Caden Tellier was not only a football player but also played baseball for Morgan Academy. His passing comes just nine days after another Alabama high school football player, 14-year-old Semaj Wilkins of New Brockton High School, died after collapsing during a practice.
