Dershowitz Exits Democratic Party, Expresses Disgust at DNC

(PatriotNews.net) – Harvard law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz recently expressed his frustration with the Democratic Party, saying he has officially left it. Speaking on the radio, Dershowitz explained that the tipping point was the 2024 Democratic National Convention. He criticized the convention as “anti-Jewish, anti-Israel, and anti-Zionist,” citing the involvement of lawmakers like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders, whom he views as hostile to Israel. He also criticized the anti-Israel protests outside the convention. Dershowitz now identifies as an Independent, motivated by what he sees as growing anti-Israel sentiment within the party.

Dershowitz’s disillusionment has been building for some time. He cited multiple reasons for his decision, including Vice President Kamala Harris’ lack of support for Israel and Democrats skipping Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s speech to Congress. He is particularly concerned with how the U.S. will handle Iran and its stance on Israel in the future.

The split within the Democratic Party deepened following the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel. Some members refused to condemn the attack, while many called for a ceasefire and urged restraint on Israel’s military response, without holding groups like Hamas and Hezbollah accountable. Dershowitz’s frustration stems from what he sees as the party’s failure to fully support Israel in a time of crisis.
