(PatriotNews.net) – Former President Donald Trump recently shared dramatic details about an attempt on his life during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, this past July. In an exclusive interview, Trump described how he narrowly avoided being killed by a bullet, thanks to what he called a miraculous twist of fate.
During the interview, Trump recounted the moment he was shot, saying he knew immediately that he had been hit. He explained that while many might experience such a moment as surreal, he was fully aware of what was happening. Trump vividly described how he had turned his head at just the right angle, which saved his life. Had he moved even slightly differently, he believes he wouldn’t have survived. “I’m turning, and I’m dead here, I’m dead here, I’m dead here, dead, dead, alive, dead,” he said, recounting the fractions of a second that made the difference.
Trump also expressed disbelief that the shooter missed from such a close range, pointing out that both of his sons, who are experienced shooters, were shocked by the miss. The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired eight shots, with one grazing Trump’s ear. Trump noted that if the bullet had hit his head directly, “my head would have exploded like a watermelon,” and America’s enemies would have used it as propaganda.
Trump praised the bravery of the Secret Service agents who protected him, though he criticized their failure to secure the rooftop from which Crooks fired. Despite this lapse, he was impressed by the agent who ultimately took down the shooter with a single shot from 400 yards away.
Reflecting on the dangers of being president, Trump noted that the profession carries significant risks, especially for those with strong opinions and convictions. He mentioned how four U.S. presidents have been assassinated, highlighting the perilous nature of the job.
After being shot, Trump insisted on walking to the waiting vehicle under his own power, despite the advice of his security team. He later raised his fist and shouted “fight, fight, fight!” before being rushed to the hospital.
