Representative Argues with JD Vance in Heated Exchange

(PatriotNews.net) – Things got heated on Monday when Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) attacked Senator JD Vance (R-OH) on social media, but somehow, Vice President Kamala Harris ended up taking the most heat. It all started with a report from the Star Tribune, shared on X (formerly Twitter) by journalist Ryan Faircloth.

Faircloth’s post explained that JD Vance, who is now the Republican nominee for vice president, had visited Minneapolis and painted a grim picture of the city. “Vance portrayed Minneapolis as a city in decline, echoing Trump’s recent comments about Detroit,” Faircloth wrote. “‘The story of Minneapolis is coming to every community across the U.S. if we promote Kamala Harris to president,’ Vance said.”

This post didn’t sit well with Phillips, who wasted no time firing back at Vance. “Shame on you, @JDVance, for coming to our community and calling us a city in decline,” Phillips snapped. “George Floyd’s murder and COVID’s destruction happened during your emperor’s reign, and you’ve done NOTHING to help. Take your fear-mongering freak show back to lovely Cleveland.”

But Vance wasn’t about to let that slide. He quickly responded, correcting Phillips and saying the words “city in decline” didn’t come from him but were the journalist’s interpretation. “I never used that phrase,” Vance clarified. “What I did say: Minneapolis has suffered greatly. And not because of ‘George Floyd’s murder,’ but because politicians like you let rioters loot and burn, causing $500 million in damage.”

Vance then turned his attack toward both Phillips and Harris. He argued that the destruction of Minneapolis and rising crime was the direct result of weak leadership by Minnesota Democrats, including Governor Tim Walz, who Harris picked as her running mate.

“If you want to let people burn down cities, harass police, and watch violent crime almost double, vote for Dean’s buddy Kamala Harris,” Vance warned. “If you want to support law enforcement and protect the people who depend on them, vote for Donald J. Trump.”

The back-and-forth put Harris in the spotlight, with her opponents framing her as a continuation of failed leadership that, they argue, left cities like Minneapolis in chaos. The fight between Phillips and Vance is just the latest example of how high the stakes have become as both sides head into the 2024 election.
