This decision would prove catastrophic as Ayala-Ramos embarked on a criminal spree spanning multiple years, including charges for assault by strangulation in 2019 and burglary with possession of a stolen firearm in 2021.
The Department of Homeland Security revealed that despite these “multiple previous criminal arrests,” the 28-year-old remained at large in Nebraska communities. This represents exactly the type of enforcement failure that has endangered American families for years. Each arrest should have triggered immediate immigration proceedings, yet the system failed repeatedly to protect citizens from this violent offender.
December 3rd Shooting Rampage Injures Five Americans
On December 3, 2024, Ayala-Ramos executed a random attack on 61-year-old Michael Kasper in the parking lot of Phil’s Foodway grocery store in Omaha. Police report no known connection between the suspect and victim, making this a senseless act of violence against an innocent American simply grabbing a shopping cart. Investigators recovered 15 shell casings from the scene as Kasper was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
The violence escalated when six Omaha police officers tracked Ayala-Ramos to a nearby QuikTrip gas station. The suspect barricaded himself in the men’s restroom and opened fire with at least 16 rounds, injuring four heroic officers. Sergeant Emilio Luna suffered a gunshot wound to his foot, while Detectives Brock Rengo, Jordan Brandt, and Christopher Brown sustained gunshot wounds and shrapnel injuries to their legs and feet.
