(PatriotNews.net) – In Texas, a 29-year-old man named Grayson Davis lost his life in a tragic car crash caused by an illegal immigrant accused of driving drunk. The family of Grayson, who was struck and killed on October 13th, says this heartbreaking event should never have happened.
The driver responsible, 35-year-old Jorge Miguel Peralta, has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter, a serious felony. Authorities say that Peralta, after reportedly drinking five beers, got behind the wheel and caused a multi-vehicle crash. As police records show, he was allegedly driving under the influence when he collided with Grayson’s vehicle. That evening, Grayson’s mother, Ashley Davis, received an unexpected and devastating message: her son had been hit by a truck.
“You always hear these stories, but you never think it will happen to you,” Ashley told local news. “Then, out of nowhere, you get a message saying your son was hit by an illegal drunk driver.” Grayson was badly hurt in the crash and had to be flown to a nearby hospital. Tragically, he did not survive his injuries and passed away three days later.
The incident took another shocking turn when police arrived at the scene and reported that Peralta attempted to escape on foot. Peralta remains in custody at the Bastrop County Jail, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed a hold on him, meaning ICE wants custody if he is ever released.
Grayson’s family is devastated. Ashley Davis believes that her son would still be alive if immigration laws had been properly enforced. “I’m pleading with everyone listening—this has to stop. It’s not okay,” she said tearfully. Ashley wants changes in policies so other families don’t have to face the same kind of loss.
Grayson’s obituary describes him as a young man with a “magnetic personality, big heart, and ever-present smile.” His family says he brought joy to everyone around him, often brightening their lives with a story or a laugh. Though he was only 29, his loved ones say he lived fully, leaving a deep impact on those who knew him. Grayson leaves behind his girlfriend, his parents, siblings, and many friends and family members.
