(PatriotNews.net) – A major rally in downtown Houston drew massive attention Friday night as music icon Beyoncé endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in her run for the presidency. With an announced crowd of 30,000 at a soccer stadium, the event centered around reproductive rights, one of the main pillars of Harris’s campaign.
Beyoncé, who grew up in Houston, took the stage with a powerful message. “It’s time for America to sing a new song,” she declared, before introducing Harris. “I’m not here as a celebrity. I’m here as a mother, concerned about the world we’re leaving for our children—a world where we have the freedom to control our bodies.” Beyoncé’s song “Freedom” has become the unofficial anthem of Harris’s campaign.
Harris used the rally to criticize Texas’s strict abortion law, which bans the procedure after just six weeks. “Texas is facing a healthcare crisis, and Donald Trump is the architect of it,” Harris said, pointing out that Trump appointed the Supreme Court justices responsible for overturning Roe v. Wade in 2022. The end of Roe allowed states like Texas to enact highly restrictive abortion laws, energizing Democrats who have made reproductive rights a key issue in recent elections.
Beyoncé wasn’t the only familiar face at the event. Kelly Rowland, Beyoncé’s longtime bandmate from Destiny’s Child, joined her on stage to show her support for Harris. “Houston, you’ve already made history once. Now it’s time to do it again,” Rowland told the cheering crowd.
Another Texas legend, Willie Nelson, also performed. At 91 years old, Nelson asked the audience, “Are we ready to say, Madam President?” Actress Jessica Alba spoke earlier in the night, adding more star power to what was described as Harris’s largest rally so far.
Harris’s campaign is using these high-profile events to rally voters not just in Texas but across key battleground states. Though Texas isn’t expected to flip, the state holds an important Senate race. Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, appearing with Trump at a separate event in Austin, accused Harris of ignoring the border crisis. Trump echoed this criticism, accusing Harris of “rubbing shoulders with woke celebrities” instead of addressing real issues.
With the election just days away, both candidates are making their final pushes, targeting not just Texas but crucial swing states likely to decide the outcome.
