(PatriotNews.net) – President-elect Donald Trump’s 2024 popular vote count has officially passed his total from the 2020 election, with more ballots yet to be counted. According to the Associated Press, Trump’s vote total currently stands at 74,372,005, surpassing his 2020 record of 74,223,975 votes. Despite a higher voter turnout, a handful of states, including large ones like California and Arizona, still have uncounted votes.
The states still tabulating ballots include Maryland, Oregon, Arizona, Utah, Alaska, and California. In California, only 63% of the votes had been counted as of 5 p.m. Eastern Time on November 9, 2024. Approximately 5 million votes remain to be counted across the country, meaning the final numbers could shift slightly in the coming days.
The results so far give Trump a clear victory in the Electoral College, with 301 votes compared to Vice President Kamala Harris’s 226. This win secures Trump’s return to the White House, providing him the electoral mandate to proceed with his policy agenda in his second term. Many see this as a chance for Republicans to push forward significant changes, as the party appears on track to gain control of both the House and Senate.
Trump’s path to the presidency in 2024 contrasts with his first run in 2016, where he won the presidency with 304 Electoral College votes but lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton. This time, Trump has managed to secure both the Electoral College and a record-breaking popular vote for a Republican candidate.
In terms of Trump’s priorities, a Republican majority in Congress will give him an advantage in implementing his policies without facing as much resistance. Plans for tax reforms, energy policies, and international relations will be high on the agenda, and Republicans hope to make headway quickly.
With the inauguration committee already assembling, including former Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler, Trump’s team is preparing for the transition. Trump is expected to meet with President Biden at the White House in the coming week, marking the start of the handover process.
While some votes are still being counted, Trump’s victory in both the Electoral College and popular vote appears to be settled, setting the stage for an ambitious start to his second term in office.
