Harvey Weinstein Battling Bone Marrow Cancer, Sources Confirm

(PatriotNews.net) – Harvey Weinstein, the former Hollywood producer now serving time for sexual assault, has reportedly been diagnosed with a rare form of bone marrow cancer. Multiple news outlets including ABC and NBC, confirmed Monday that the 72-year-old has chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).

Weinstein is currently imprisoned in New York, where he’s receiving treatment for the illness. His diagnosis adds to a long list of health troubles that have followed him since his imprisonment. Earlier this year, he was sentenced to 16 more years in prison by a California court for rape, adding to his previous 23-year sentence in New York. His legal team had tried to fight the convictions, but the appeals have so far been unsuccessful.

CML is a slow-growing type of cancer that starts in the bone marrow and can spread into the blood. Although it progresses gradually, it can become life-threatening if not treated promptly. Thankfully, researchers have developed targeted therapies over the years to manage the disease. While it is less common than other blood cancers, advancements in medicine have improved the outlook for many patients.

Weinstein’s deteriorating health has been on public display for some time. During a recent court appearance, witnesses noted that he looked frail and pale. Just last month, he underwent emergency heart surgery, though his spokesperson later confirmed that he had made it through the procedure and was “out of danger.”

Juda Engelmayer, Weinstein’s representative, expressed frustration that his client’s medical condition has become such a public topic. “It’s troubling that his health issues are being discussed so openly,” Engelmayer told reporters. He added that, out of respect for Weinstein’s privacy, they wouldn’t be commenting further.

Engelmayer also refused to speculate on how Weinstein’s cancer diagnosis might affect his future legal battles, as he still faces additional charges and appeals. For now, the disgraced mogul remains behind bars, battling both his declining health and the consequences of his criminal actions.
