(PatriotNews.net) – Former President Donald Trump is unharmed after Secret Service agents shot at a man outside Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday. Authorities are calling this a potential assassination attempt.
The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, was reportedly armed with a rifle and allegedly aimed the weapon through a chain-link fence near Trump’s golf club. Secret Service agents opened fire on him when they saw the rifle. Routh fled in a black Nissan but was arrested shortly after.
“This doesn’t look like just a random person with a rifle outside Trump’s club,” said one official. Routh had a GoPro camera and two backpacks, adding to suspicions of a more organized plan.
The Secret Service confirmed that they fired at Routh after spotting him raise the rifle. Trump was on the fifth hole of the golf course when the shots were fired. His security team quickly escorted him to the clubhouse, where he was safe. No one was injured, and there’s no evidence that any shots came close to Trump.
Fox News reported that Routh’s rifle was found in the bushes nearby. Four shots were fired, and Trump’s first reaction inside the clubhouse was to make sure everyone around him was okay.
Later, Trump spoke with news anchor Bret Baier, commending the Secret Service for their fast response. He assured the public that he was fine and praised his security team for handling the situation.
The Secret Service is now working with local authorities to investigate the incident. U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland has been briefed and is closely following the developments.
This event comes just two months after a previous attempt on Trump’s life, marking it the second such incident in a short time. As a precaution, Trump National Golf Club remains on lockdown.
