(PatriotNews.net) – Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) seems to have spent plenty of time thinking about ways to keep Democrats in power, even if it means some controversial moves.
Before the U.S. Supreme Court made its decision on whether President Donald Trump could claim immunity in the case U.S. v. Donald Trump, Raskin and other Democrats worked hard to undermine conservative Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. According to Christopher Bedford, a senior editor for Blaze Media, the aim of this effort was to weaken one of the few remaining checks on the Democratic Party’s power.
Hoping for a ruling that would help the Democratic agenda, Raskin didn’t just criticize the conservative justices. He also suggested that the Department of Justice, under the Biden-Harris administration, should force Justices Alito and Thomas to step down from the case—not as a favor, but by law. Despite his efforts, Raskin couldn’t sway the Supreme Court’s decisions. However, he appears to have other plans in mind for ensuring a Democratic victory in the 2024 election.
Recently, an old video from a February 17 panel at a D.C. bookstore has caused quite a stir. In it, Raskin outlines how Congress could prevent Trump from taking office, even if he wins the election. Raskin predicted—correctly but reluctantly—that the Supreme Court would rule Trump couldn’t be disqualified from Colorado’s presidential primary ballot under the 14th Amendment. He described the court’s decision as a failure to fulfill its duty.
The court’s unanimous ruling on March 4 confirmed that it’s Congress, not the states, responsible for enforcing Section 3 of the 14th Amendment against federal officeholders and candidates. Raskin hinted that when it comes to Congress on January 6, 2025, they might have to step in and disqualify Trump, which could lead to a situation similar to civil war.
This footage has gone viral, sparking controversy. In it, Raskin outlines how Congress could prevent Trump from taking office, even if he wins the election. Trump adviser Stephen Miller called it a “criminal conspiracy to commit election interference.” Elon Musk labeled it as “crazy,” while other critics like Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Turning Point USA CEO Charlie Kirk have warned that this kind of talk is dangerous and a real threat to democracy.
