(PatriotNews.net) – A large group of migrants, mainly from Central and South America, recently left Chiapas, a southern state in Mexico, with plans to reach the U.S. border. These migrants are demanding faster processing of transit permits from Mexico’s new government, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum.
According to journalist Ali Bradley, this new caravan is estimated to have around 6,000 migrants. The group is reportedly frustrated with the Biden-Harris administration’s CBP One app, which was supposed to help them schedule appointments for legal border crossings. However, many migrants have struggled to secure these appointments or find flights to the U.S. In response, they left Tapachula, Chiapas, over the weekend and began their journey north.
Videographer Auden Cabello noted that the caravan is currently being escorted by Mexican authorities, including the National Guard, state police, and ambulances. Some migrants were offered help in Tapachula, with authorities assisting them with their CBP One applications. However, it seems many preferred to continue the trek to the U.S. border.
This isn’t the first time a large group of migrants has set out for the U.S. A previous caravan of about 3,000 migrants left Mexico’s southern border in July, also heading north.
In mid-September, large groups of migrants began crossing the border near Eagle Pass, Texas, again. Eagle Pass had once seen a high frequency of migrant crossings, but stricter enforcement in Mexico had slowed the flow. Still, as reported by Randy Clark of Breitbart Texas, the area saw a resurgence in migrant activity when a large group crossed the Rio Grande near Normandy, Texas, a small town just north of Eagle Pass.
As of October, the crossings continue, according to Texas DPS spokesperson Lieutenant Chris Olivares. This ongoing situation highlights the challenges both the U.S. and Mexico face as migrants continue to make their way toward the border.
