Mike Waltz Selected as National Security Adviser by Trump

(PatriotNews.net) – Rep. Mike Waltz, a Republican from Florida, has been offered the position of national security adviser in President-elect Donald Trump’s new administration, according to sources. Waltz has been a prominent supporter of Trump during the 2024 campaign, leading military outreach and helping to organize the Veterans for Trump coalition.

As the first retired Green Beret to serve in Congress, Waltz brings a unique perspective to the role. He also has prior experience as a policy adviser to former Defense Secretaries Donald Rumsfeld and Robert Gates. The Wall Street Journal first reported his selection, and Fox News has confirmed the offer through its own sources.

While this is a major step for Waltz, it may create some challenges for the Republican majority in the House of Representatives. Waltz represents a solidly Republican district along Florida’s eastern coast, so his seat is unlikely to flip to the Democrats. However, the process of replacing a House member can take weeks, and with the GOP’s slim majority, losing even one member temporarily could complicate Trump’s legislative agenda in his first 100 days.

Waltz is the second House Republican tapped for a major role in Trump’s administration. Earlier this week, House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik of New York accepted Trump’s nomination to become the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Both Waltz and Stefanik serve on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, giving them deep experience in national security matters.

Unlike the U.N. ambassador role, which requires Senate confirmation, the position of national security adviser does not. This allows Waltz to step into the role quickly, assuming he accepts the offer.

Waltz’s selection underscores Trump’s focus on surrounding himself with experienced leaders who align with his “America First” philosophy. During his first term, Trump emphasized a tough stance on international security, withdrawing from agreements like the Iran nuclear deal and cutting funding to the World Health Organization. With Waltz as his national security adviser, Trump seems poised to continue prioritizing strong military leadership and policies that bolster American interests globally.

The Trump transition team has yet to comment officially on Waltz’s offer, but his deep military and policy background make him a fitting choice for the job.
