(PatriotNews.net) – Former President Donald Trump gave a strong endorsement of his running mate, Senator JD Vance, on Thursday after Vance faced a series of attacks from Vice President Kamala Harris and the mainstream media.
Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, have been trying to paint Vance as “weird.” During a rally earlier this week, Walz even brought up a completely false story about Vance. Despite some media rumors suggesting that Trump might be second-guessing his choice of Vance, Trump made it clear that he fully supports his vice-presidential pick during a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
“I have to tell you, JD Vance has really stepped up. He’s doing a fantastic job,” Trump said.
Trump also mentioned that he has agreed to participate in three presidential debates set for September. These debates will take place on Fox News, NBC, and ABC. In addition, his team has agreed to a vice-presidential debate on CBS, although the exact date is yet to be confirmed. However, Trump pointed out that Harris still needs to agree to the debate terms.
“We have spoken to the heads of the networks, and it’s all been confirmed, other than some fairly minor details,” Trump said.
During the news conference, Trump was asked about Harris’s decision to choose Tim Walz over Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as her running mate. Trump responded by saying that while Harris had some good options, Shapiro wasn’t one of them. “He’s caused a lot of damage with a lot of people. I don’t think he would’ve been better,” Trump remarked.
Trump’s praise for Vance comes just a day after Vance addressed reporters who were waiting for Harris outside Air Force Two. Vance said, “I figured I’d come by … I also thought you guys may get lonely because the vice president doesn’t answer questions from reporters and hasn’t for seventeen days.”
Vance also criticized Walz, telling reporters earlier in the week, “They make an interesting tag team because of course Tim Walz allowed rioters to burn down Minneapolis in the summer of 2020, and then the few who got caught, Kamala Harris helped bail them out of jail.”
