(PatriotNews.net) – Former President Trump is speaking out after U.S. intelligence revealed that Iranian hackers sent emails this summer to people connected with President Biden’s campaign. These emails included stolen material from Trump’s own campaign. The goal of these emails was likely to stir up trouble and disrupt the election process.
Kamala Harris’ campaign addressed the situation after federal agencies announced that individuals linked to Biden’s campaign were targeted by Iranian actors. The campaign made it clear that no material was sent directly to the Biden campaign, but a few people did receive emails in their personal inboxes.
“We’ve worked with law enforcement since learning that people associated with the Biden campaign were targeted by foreign actors,” Harris campaign spokesperson Morgan Finkelstein said. “We aren’t aware of any material being sent directly to the campaign. It was more of a spam or phishing attempt aimed at personal emails. We strongly condemn any attempts by foreign actors to interfere in U.S. elections.”
The U.S. agencies involved – the FBI, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) – confirmed that in June and July, Iranian cyber actors sent unsolicited emails. These messages contained parts of stolen material from Trump’s campaign and were intended for people linked to Biden’s campaign.
The agencies also noted that the recipients did not respond to the emails. However, Iranian actors have since been trying to send this stolen information to U.S. media outlets, in hopes of causing more chaos. They pointed out that foreign actors like Iran, Russia, and China are looking to divide American society, especially during election seasons.
Trump, unsurprisingly, had something to say. On his social media platform, he demanded to know, “WHEN DOES KAMALA AND HER CAMPAIGN GO BEFORE A GRAND JURY ON IRAN, IRAN, IRAN?” He claimed the situation with Harris and Iran was real corruption, unlike the Russia investigation he faced during his presidency.
His campaign spokesperson also accused Harris and Biden of benefiting from Iranian interference, though the Harris campaign denied using any stolen materials.
