George Santos Sentenced to 87 Months for Campaign Fraud and Identity Theft

(PatriotNews.net) – Former Republican Congressman George Santos, the pathological liar who defrauded campaign donors and stole identities to fund his luxury shopping and OnlyFans habits, just got slapped with over seven years behind bars – while actual violent criminals in leftist cities walk free.

While Democrats Coddle Criminals, Santos Gets Maximum Justice

While left-wing prosecutors are busy releasing violent criminals back onto the streets of major Democrat-run cities, the justice system made an example of former Republican Congressman George Santos on Thursday. U.S. District Judge Joanna Seybert handed down an 87-month sentence – that’s more than seven years – for the disgraced ex-representative who admittedly committed financial fraud. Santos, who flipped a Long Island seat from blue to red in 2022, was quickly exposed for fabricating virtually his entire résumé and personal history, including false claims about being Jewish.

Make no mistake – Santos deserves punishment for his actions. The man stole from campaign donors, including elderly Americans, used their credit card information without authorization, and splurged on luxury shopping sprees with money meant for his campaign. The judge even ordered him to pay nearly $374,000 in restitution. But the severity of the sentence raises questions when we see violent repeat offenders walking free in progressive jurisdictions across America on a daily basis.

The Audacity of a “Pants on Fire” Podcast

If there’s one thing the establishment hates more than fraud, it’s someone who refuses to show proper remorse for their actions. Santos had the audacity to launch a podcast called “Pants on Fire with George Santos” where he discussed his fabricated history. This did not sit well with Judge Seybert, who asked pointedly during sentencing, “Where is the remorse?” While Santos did apologize in court, claiming he betrayed his constituents’ trust, prosecutors painted him as completely unrepentant and continuing to lie publicly.

“Where is the remorse?” – U.S. District Judge Joanna Seybert.

Santos’ defense attorneys tried arguing for a minimum two-year sentence, citing his lack of criminal history and suggesting his actions stemmed from campaign-related desperation. But the judge wasn’t having it. Meanwhile, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York celebrated that Santos was “finally held accountable for the mountain of lies, theft, and fraud he perpetrated.” If only our justice system showed this much enthusiasm for prosecuting the career criminals terrorizing our cities.

Another GOP Congressman Gets His Comeuppance

Santos’ expulsion from Congress last December made him only the sixth House member in American history to be kicked out – and the only one without being convicted of treason or rebellion against the United States. The House Ethics Committee report that preceded his expulsion detailed how he misused campaign funds for personal expenses including luxury goods and yes, even OnlyFans subscriptions. But let’s be honest, if misusing funds was grounds for expulsion, half of Washington would be unemployed tomorrow.

“finally held accountable for the mountain of lies, theft, and fraud he perpetrated.” – John J. Durham, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York .

Santos expressed hope for a pardon from former President Trump, though he admitted he hadn’t reached out to him. The irony isn’t lost on anyone that while Santos serves his 87-month sentence for financial crimes, the Biden Justice Department continues its relentless lawfare campaign against Trump himself. One thing’s for certain: in today’s America, when you’re a Republican who breaks the law, don’t expect any leniency from the system. Just ask the January 6th protesters still languishing in DC jails.
