Biden Points Finger at Trump for Border Crisis

(PatriotNews.net) – President Joe Biden recently gave a speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) where he blamed former President Donald Trump for the ongoing crisis at the southern border. Biden also claimed that the border is more secure now under his administration than it was under Trump, thanks to his executive orders. However, the facts suggest otherwise.

When Biden took office, he quickly reversed many of Trump’s border policies, leading to a significant increase in illegal immigration. Despite this, Biden blamed Trump for the current border crisis, saying that Trump didn’t support a bipartisan border deal. Biden also took credit for a recent decrease in border encounters, claiming that his executive actions were responsible for the drop. He even said that there are fewer border crossings now than when Trump was president.

But the truth is, illegal immigration has reached record levels under Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Border apprehensions have averaged around 2 million per year, and this doesn’t include those who managed to cross the border without being caught or those who entered through the parole program. Last year alone, an estimated 1.7 million people crossed the border without being apprehended, a number that’s higher than the total for the entire decade from 2010 to 2020. By the end of this fiscal year, the total number of border encounters under the Biden-Harris administration is expected to reach 10 million.

Critics argue that the recent decrease in border encounters isn’t because of Biden’s executive orders but due to actions taken by others, like Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star, which was launched to enforce immigration laws when Biden refused. The president of the Arizona Sheriff’s Association, David Rhodes, also pointed out that Mexico’s efforts to control the border have more to do with the drop in numbers than Biden’s actions.

In the ongoing debate, Republicans have blocked a Democrat-led border bill, arguing that it would only reinforce Biden’s ineffective border policies. Instead, they are pushing for the passage of the Secure the Border Act, which would restore many of Trump’s successful border policies.
