(PatriotNews.net) – Tennessee Republican Governor Bill Lee recently signed a final rule allowing illegal aliens enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program to access the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare. This move opens up ACA rolls to certain DACA illegal aliens. President Biden praised the DACA program, emphasizing its role in enabling young people to contribute to society. The initiative aims to provide DACA recipients with healthcare access similar to their neighbors’.
Last year, Biden announced plans to grant DACA illegal aliens tax breaks via Obamacare, a move supported by then-Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. Despite objections from Republican lawmakers like Sens. J.D. Vance and Josh Hawley, as well as some House Republicans, the administration proceeded with the plan.
In March, Biden and Trump visited the Texas border independently, each attributing responsibility to the other for the surge in illegal immigration. Biden has consistently called on Congress to approve a border security bill with bipartisan support, previously backed by numerous Republicans before Trump’s public opposition.
During his presidency, Trump intensified his rhetoric against migrants throughout the election period, alleging that undocumented immigrants were detrimental to the nation’s well-being and even dehumanizing them. Trump’s administration attempted to dismantle the DACA program, but the Supreme Court intervened, preventing the move.
Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra emphasized the importance of healthcare access for DACA recipients, citing the economic and health benefits. Still, critics like representatives from Donald Trump’s campaign argue that providing healthcare to illegal immigrants places an unfair burden on American taxpayers.
As the November election approaches, immigration remains a key issue. Recent polls show that immigration concerns continue to resonate with voters. Both Biden and Trump have made immigration a focal point of their campaigns, highlighting their differing approaches to border security and DACA.
While the Biden administration’s move has been met with praise from immigrant advocacy groups like the National Immigration Law Center, challenges persist. DACA recipients still face uncertainties, and comprehensive immigration reform remains a pressing issue for policymakers.
