Bernie Sanders Criticizes Democrats for Neglecting Working Class

(PatriotNews.net) – Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) blamed last week’s election losses on the Democratic Party’s failure to prioritize working-class Americans. During an interview on CNN’s State of the Union with Dana Bash, Sanders argued that Democrats have strayed from their core mission of representing everyday people.

When asked if he stood by his recent statement that Democrats “abandoned the working class,” Sanders replied, “Oh, absolutely.”

He acknowledged his friendship with President Joe Biden and praised some of the administration’s achievements. “Joe Biden is a friend of mine,” Sanders said. “I’ve been proud to work with him on an agenda that strongly supports the working class. Biden promised to be the most progressive president since FDR, and in many ways, on domestic issues, he kept his word.”

However, Sanders pointed out that the broader economic reality in America tells a different story. “The working class of this country is angry, and they have a reason to be angry,” he said. “We’re living in an economy where the people on top are doing phenomenally well, while 60 percent of our people are living paycheck to paycheck. Meanwhile, 25 percent of elderly Americans are trying to survive on $15,000 a year or less.”

Sanders’ comments came amid criticism from other prominent Democrats, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). Despite the pushback, Sanders doubled down on his belief that the party’s poor performance in the election was tied to its failure to connect with struggling Americans.

The Vermont senator has long been vocal about economic inequality and the hardships faced by working families. His remarks reflect frustration with the growing divide between the wealthy elite and everyday citizens. For Sanders, the Democratic Party’s challenge lies in regaining trust among those who feel left behind.

“The anger out there is real,” Sanders emphasized. “If Democrats don’t focus on the bread-and-butter issues affecting working people, they’ll continue to lose ground.”

With economic issues dominating public discourse, Sanders’ critique highlights a potential path forward for Democrats: reconnecting with the voters they once claimed to champion. Whether the party will take his advice remains to be seen, but Sanders made it clear he believes their future depends on it.
