(PatriotNews.net) – Florida police said on May 13 that officers found a boat that matched the description of the one that killed 15-year-old Ellie Adler on May 11. In a statement, the state Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said that the teenage girl was skiing near Nixon Beach on Key Biscayne when she was fatally struck by the center console of the boat in question.
The agency said that the vessel, which had a distinctive light blue hall, quickly fled from the crime scene. It added that Adler was properly wearing not only the ski boards but also a life vest. The FWC also sent its condolences to the victim’s family and claimed that the vessel is currently in custody. While the agency detailed that the owner is fully cooperating with police officers in their investigation, it didn’t say whether he was the one who was driving the boat at the time of the accident.
On social media, some reporters said that the first responder said through a radio transmission that there was plenty of blood at the scene. Other journalists also said that Adler was on a friend’s family boat celebrating his birthday at the time of the fatal accident.
In a press conference in Miami, the agency Chairman Rodney Barretto said that what the Adler family suffered was a horrible loss that happened on Mother’s Day. He also told reporters that he wanted to thank not only police officers but also every single law enforcement agency that worked and keeps working on the investigation. When asked how the agency found the boat, Barreto explained it was a difficult task that they managed to fulfill not only by working tirelessly but also by asking for more resources.
The 15-year-old girl was studying at the Ransom Everglades School and was part of the dance team. Her obituary added that she was a skillful ballerina who danced at the Adrienne Arsh Center with the Miami City Ballet.
